Cystic fibrosis is a multisystemic disorder that leads to severe damage to the lungs, digestive tract and other organs, which significantly impairs the daily functioning of these patients. It belongs to a group of rare diseases whose symptoms are most often manifested in the first years of life. Therefore, screening, which is available in Serbia from 2021, and timely diagnosis and treatment of these patients are very important. The importance of treating patients with CF is recognized, and innovative immunomodulatory therapy is provided to patients with a proven mutation at the expense of the Fund. We hope that the number of patients receiving this therapy will grow, as it is not currently available to all patients. Great results have been recorded in the form of better disease control, with less symptoms, exacerbations and hospitalizations, the life expectancy of these patients has been extended with a significant improvement in the quality of life and daily functioning in society, at school and at work. A certain number of patients were even taken off the list for lung transplantation due to improvement in lung function. The Clinic for Pulmonology and RSS will make an effort to ensure that these most vulnerable patients have even better conditions at the Clinic for treatment and diagnostics, the most modern therapy, and thus improve the quality of life of these patients.
